'Needful Things' Collection

Essential Launches 'Needful Things' Collection

What are Needful Things? Needful Things are weird and wacky one-off music themes that you can never seem to find your traditional production libraries. Well, now these ideas have a home.

We came up for the idea for Needful Things a few months back when it was noticed that we didn’t have a “Pomp and Circumstance” theme in Essential, and graduation was coming. Oops! After quickly correcting that oversight, we started wondering, “What else are we missing?”

Well, we took a bunch of suggestions, tossed in a few from our own experiences, and came up with this initial lunatic assortment:

Besides “Pomp and Circumstance,” 'Needful Things 1' contains:

1. Chopin’s Funeral March
2. An assortment of Brahms lullaby treatments

(from fully orchestrated, to solo piano, to being pecked out on a toy piano)
3. An honest-to-God opera edit (Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino,” if you’re interested)
4. Steel drum music
5. A lively Cajun piece
6. An oom-pah Ocktoberfest polka
7. An old-time Western saloon piano
8. A couple of ukulele solos
9. And a rah-rah college march/fight song

Can you use them? Who knows? But, when you need them, now you’ve got ‘em – which is kind of the whole point.

Got any suggestions for 'Needful Things 2' (we’ve already had a request for “Turkey in the Straw”)? Send them in to support (at) essentialradio (dot) net.
